The Kingdom of Arveyres is a parliamentary absolute monarchy consisting of 35 provinces. The provinces are further divided into eight geopolitical regions, akin to the superior provinces of the Empire of Eurasia, but serving less purpose within the government. The standard federal regions have maintained their boundaries since the admission of San Camilo to the Kingdom in 1982.
List of regions
The Central Region itself is often viewed as the “core” of Arveyres, as it includes the four original provinces of the Kingdom of Almeria. This was the birthplace of the Arveyran identity and serves as the cultural, social, and economic center of all of Arveyres.
The Northern Region is viewed as the political capital of Arveyres, being the home of the capital city, Calabasas, since 1013. It is also the region of origin of the royal dynasty, the House of Vergara. It is the second-oldest region in terms of acquisition date with the fall of the Kingdom of Sevilla early on in Arveyran history.
The Far Northern Region is often viewed as the most culturally distinct province from the Arveyran culture of the Central Region. Each province in the region has their own official language and has been often been contested territory throughout history, with occupations by the Empire of Marquette, invasions by the Lyrians, and wars with the Kingdom of Navarra.
The Eastern Region, often colloquially still referred to Cordoba, in reference to the Sultanate of Cordoba with which it is geographically synonymous, is the latest addition to the Kingdom, being incorporated in 1955 with the Annexation of Cordoba. The region is very ethnically, religiously, and linguistically diverse in comparison to other regions.
The Far Eastern Region shares few cultural similarities across borders due to their extreme distance from each other. Each of the provinces in the Far Eastern Region has their own language and all are distinct ethnically and racially.
The Western Region shares a common culture throughout the majority of the provinces as most citizens of the West speak either English or Saxon as a native or second language. The prominence of Germanic culture in the region has led to this region being dubbed "Lesser Aloia" or "Little Aloia" among Arveyrans.
The Midwestern Region is often viewed as the most ethnically distinct from the rest of the Kingdom. It is the native homeland of the proto-Arveyrans, or the Sevilii people who migrated across the Baltic Sea to settle in modern day Alhambra and Almain before moving east to Granada.
The Far Western Region is one of the most economically valuable regions in Arveyres, being the home of many technological industries that have moved from the Central Region to the more profitable regions with immigrant workers.
