The Ministerium of the Police (Eurasian: "Ministerium Aedilis") is the national military police of Eurasia, policing civilian populations. It originally was founded as the police force of Julium, and spread through the Empire with the expansion of imperial control. Following the Interregnum, it was nationalized and removed from the standard military apparatus by Cephorus I. Although the Ministerium assisted in the suppression of opposition during the rule of Laurentius III, they also were responsible for his downfall, as many units sided with Marinus. It is officially classified as a gendarmerie, and functions as the unitary police force throughout the Eurasian Empire.
The Ministry does maintain a presence in Julium, which is controlled by the elite Urban Cohorts. These are some of the most highly trained members of the Ministry, and often work alongside the Praetorian Guard to protect the Julian Palace.
