The Free Lutheran Church of Aloia is the second largest Christian church in Aloia, with approximately 6.8 million members. It is a member of the Lutheran Council, though it is considerably more theologically conservative and low-church than other members of the LC.

The FLCA began as individual congregations broke away from the established Church of Aloia in the 1700s and 1800s. Lutheran pietism had begun to take hold and so many the many newly independent congregations chose to come together as a common pietistic church. They chose the name Free Lutheran Church because it denoted the church's independence from the state church, as well as their emphasis on free and living congregations. Notable Free Lutherans include Chancellors Benjamin Hart, Kendrick Berkeley, and John Mark Nelson

The FLCA operates Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Today the FLCA also operates Heritage Bible College, which has campuses in suburban Minneapolis, Uppsala, Konza City, and a new campus in San Francisco. Current Chancellor of Aloia John Mark Nelson is an alumni of Heritage Minneapolis.
