Ulysses Stephens (December 13, 1780 - March 16, 1859) was an Aloian politician and military leader who served as Chancellor of Aloia from 1849 to 1857. Stephens is remembered as the Chancellor who kept the Kingdom of Aloia together during the Aloian Civil War.

Stephens was born in Cimarron, Konza, in 1780, the son of a farmer. Stephens taught himself to read and write and taught himself law. He went on to practice law in Cimarron. He became interest in politics and ran for Senate of Aloia, seeking to represent part of Konza. He lost his first election and ran again, winning four years later. Stephens served in the Senate until 1848, when he ran for Chancellor of Aloia. His election aggravated the divisions between Aloia's three dominant language groups, the English, the German, and the Swedish. German and Swedish leaders in the Zumbro valley declared themselves to be the independent Republic of Aloia. Stephens' government quickly responded to the rebels with force, beginning a blood 7-month war. By the time August 26 came and the war ended, 500,000 Aloians were dead and the Zumbro valley was devastated by the war. The war only ended when the figureheads of the German and Swedish rebellion were killed. Many veterans on both sides moved to Natal after the war to start a new life.

Stephens ran for a second term and won. He chose to not run in the 1856 election and died at his home in Minneapolis in 1859.
